When we are starting off with learning how to sew, or we are long time sewers a bit out of shape, or simply when we know the basics of sewing and we want to create some simple but useful and beautiful item, one of the difficult part is – aside from the technical side of learning how to use a sewing machine – finding the right project that satisfies the sewing bee which resides in each of us.
Understanding how to use a Sewing Pattern can be complicated and discouraging. Understanding the steps we should take to finish a project, no matter how simple, is all but trivial.
B’etha Bag mission is to allow everyone to get closer or rediscover the love for sewing designing and proposing easy to use patterns and easy how to, step-by-step instructions that won’t leave anything unsaid.
All B’etha Bags sewing patterns are easy. Whether you are a beginner or an expert seamstress, a B’etha Pattern will be fun and easy to make.
I constantly work to design new bags or accessories that you can learn how to sew in less than an hour.
Here a list of suggested B’etha Patterns that you can start with, as a beginner:
Easy Bookmark
Torakiki is a quick and very easy fun project to make in around 30 minutes. It’s a great project to teach kids how to sew and to use up scrap cotton fabric.
It is also a great idea to make personalised gifts for your book-lover friends. I am sure a handmade, personalised gift is going to be far more appreciated than anything else.
Here also available a video tutorial, if you prefer to follow video instructions. It is my first video, be kind 🙂
While it is far from being perfect, I hope it can be inspirational for you.
I am working on the publication of more video tutorials.
Fabric Corner Bookmark
Rio is a super fun project, both to make and to use!
Another great idea to teach kids how to sew, I use these fabric corner bookmarks myself everyday.
Useful to keep up to where you last left your reading, is great also to keep track of important pages you might want to go back to. Books pages will be safe and your book will look really great!
My suggestion: make as many as you want of them, you will need them!
Japanese Knot Bag
Saki is one of the most loved B’etha Patterns ever!
It is based on the classic Japanese Knot Bag, with a twist both as a matter of ease of construction and as the final look and feel.
It has a gusset and it is built in a way that you can make it by sewing simple straight lines, as sewing curves can be a challenge, in the beginning of our sewing path.
Fat quarter friendly, in less than 1 hour you can sew this wonderful bag. Smart enough to act as a project or craft bag, and at the same time to perform as a wrist pouch.
Stay tuned for the next tutorial on how to up-skill your sewing skills while sewing beautiful bags and accessories.
